Our mission is to help expand understanding of the ocean by providing opportunities for citizen explorers and scientists to explore its depths with their own eyes. Scientists have told us repeatedly that there is no substitute for in person, in situ observation.

We’re a team of ocean explorers, scientists, and filmmakers dedicated to exploration of the deep ocean. Our founder’s dream of exploring distant planets changed when he realized that it is not necessary to go to space to discover alien worlds; our planet’s ocean is filled with them.
The volume of unexplored ocean is staggering. The unexplored volume of ocean is 50-100 times the colume of space that air-breathers inhabit on the surface. More than 80% of the ocean has still yet to be explored so we have our work cut out for us, and we’re ready to dive.
Argus Expeditions Ltd., dba OceanGate Expeditions, a company organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, deploys human-occupied submersibles to create expeditions to sites at depths of up to 4,000 meters (13,123 feet).
Citizen explorers are invited to join our team of undersea explorers, scientists, and filmmakers on these rare and exclusive expeditions to explore and document the 95% of the seafloor that man has rarely visited, including iconic shipwrecks, hydrothermal vents, deep-sea canyons, and extreme biological events around the world. These expeditions provide extraordinary opportunities to directly observe the mysteries of the deep sea and expand our understanding of our home, the Blue Planet.
