Can you believe it’s almost the end of the year already? We can’t. Thank you for following us on our journey back to the Titanic and for helping us spread the word that the deep ocean is teeming with possibilities and new adventures.
We completed our second Titanic Expedition, captured the first 8K video of the wreck, broadcast our story to the world on BBC and CBS, discovered a deep-sea coral garden, dove on sunken submarines with researchers from the University of Rhode Island, published a book and much more.
Let’s take a look back on 2022 before we dive into 2023.
We are proud to say that we returned to the wreck this year to complete our second Titanic Expedition. Mission Specialists made seven dives to the wreck and came back with stunning imagery.
We also:
To everyone who made this possible — Mission Specialists, Horizon Maritime’s crew, our partners, and our crew on ship and on shore — thank you.
Mission Specialists helped us capture the first 8K video of the Titanic that shows the wreck in incredible detail. The video made its way around the world and was our first piece to hit 4 million views on YouTube.
We invited camera crews from BBC Travel Show and CBS Sunday Morning to join us for a mission on our Titanic Expedition to show the world what it’s really like to dive with us. You can watch the BBC Travel Show story part one here and part two here, and the CBS Sunday Morning piece here.
Titanic Expert PH Nargeolet had held on to a set of secret coordinates for more than two decades wondering — what was that strange blip on sonar near the Titanic?
After 26 years of questioning whether the blip was a shipwreck or geological feature, PH got his chance to dive on the site during our expedition this year, and explored the ridge that now provisionally carries his name. Read more about the discovery here and watch the dive footage here.
We’re supporting a team of researchers at the University of Rhode Island in their efforts to document four historic submarines, including one Nazi Germany U-boat that we dove in April, to preserve this rich history for generations to come.
