CYCLOPS

The Original Cyclops-Class 5-Person Submersible

The predecessor to Titan, Cyclops is a reliable 5-person submersible used on dozens of research projects, expeditions and training dives.

Throughout the development of Titan, Cyclops 1 also served as a fully functional prototype, and a test platform for software, technology and equipment for its deep diving successor.

Advanced Control System

Cyclops 1 features an enhanced automated control system designed by the Applied Physics Lab at the University of Washington and OceanGate’s internal engineering team.

Using a combination of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) technology and innovative system architecture the automated control system monitors life support, power management, navigation and other critical system diagnostics.

The control system, which is also used on Titan, is revolutionizing how manned submersibles operate by increasing safety through a reduction in user error and time spent on vehicle control therefore increasing time to achieve mission objectives.

OceanGate was founded in 2009 as a privately owned company to open the oceans using advanced manned submersibles.

Learn more about us and our expeditions

We are the industry leader in the safe operation of manned submersibles for shallow and deep-water applications. OceanGate has invested significant resources in the research, development and manufacturing of the next generation of manned submersibles for commercial, scientific and military projects.

The use of Titan for the Titanic Survey Expedition is a monumental milestone in our effort to challenge the status quo, open the oceans, and gain a better understanding of the unknown world through technology, innovation, and adventure.
